*Without making a conscious effort to elaborate the work, I’m trying to make them consider my work as the result of an unconscious behavior, which is a preposterous plastic work. That corresponds with an improvisational musical performance in jazz, that is, the improvisation of sharing each other’s feeling and performing an instant music without musical notes. That is one of the reasons I have been so long fascinated with jazz. Moreover, such improvisation of jazz corresponds with that of artists who work under unconsciousness, the purest property of creativity.
*I employed such way of plastic art influenced by the attraction of jazz that always stimulates a bold decision and up-to-date way of thinking in my life. Also, it helps me to avoid all things pushing me in daily life, and to experience freedom from the process of working.
*”Long thought, fast work” That is a very important basic principle in my work. However, more important reason for it is to capture the most brilliant piece among my behaviors in the purest moment. I have always worked an art piece for several decades, and now I’m trying to present all the things in me in the least detail like the skill of a nice jazz music.
*A variation and a harmony are entangled in the contemporary jazz. I’d like to challenge to represent such way of becoming a melodious sound through my work. Especially, jazz enables me to try new and various expressions in my paintings as it is played differently by different jazz players.
*After drawing improvisational drafts, I materialize them with bronze or something and paint trumpet tunes on the sculptures, then mix sculpture and painting in perfection. Each jazz has its own feeling that I intend to capture by painting with a brush that dances at the end of my hand when I make a move before the canvas while listening to jazz. When the feeling is captured, I decide the colors. In order to get the exceptional result of composition caused by the unconscious behavior, I changed my career from sculptor to painter. In doing so, I was able to continue to get near the path of my art.
*Contemporary jazz, that makes all musical elements disappear through the dissonance among classic, jazz, and vocal and instrumental music, offers the direction of my art work. My paintings are drawn unplanned, covered, and swaying but keeping their weights.
